5:30am – Alarm.
6:00am – Gear check. Coffee check.
6:15am – Driving into the blue hour. Shoot did I leave too late. Sure hope I get there on time.
6:45am – Decent down Zoar Valley Rd. Memories flash back. Teenage waterfall climbs. Swimming holes. Fly fishing. Hiking.
7:00am – Sunrise above the valley. Fog rolling off Cattaraugus Creek. An owl ‘hoo-ing’ in the distance. Deer running through the fields.
Moments like this is why I shoot landscape photography.

Personal advice
Zoar Valley is no joke. I’ve frequented the area for over 30 years. Follow the rules, regulations, and outdoor safety advice in the links above. Stay on the trails. Phone receptions is spotty at best. GPS gets confused. Shale cliffs give way. Water can rise rapidly. Some areas you're in a gorge. It gets dark well before sunset. Selfies & leaning for that perfect shot can get you seriously injured ~ use common sense. Don’t put our local search & rescue volunteers at risk too.
